What we do
The Pearly Kings and Queens raise funds for nominated charities to provide to others a better way of living and to support those who are in need of help.
Here are some of the principle charities supported by the Original Pearly Kings and Queens Asssociation in 2008/2009
Jeans for Genes
Jeans for Genes is the national charity which organises the annual fundraiser Jeans for Genes Day. Our aim is to help children and families affected by genetic disorders by funding support services and research into the causes and cures of these conditions.
To donate go to www.jeansforgenes.com or call 0800 980 4800.
Alternatively send a cheque to ’Jeans for Genes’ to: PO Box 5, Colchester, CO2 8GE
Richard House
Richard House provides care and support for life-limited children and children with complex healthcare conditions between the ages of 0 and 19 and their families. They accompany them during the child or young person’s journey through life to death, creating positive experiences along the way which become good memories for the future, helping our children and young people make the most of the time they have, providing the opportunity for play and recreational activities and offering assistance to parents and siblings.
All our services are completely free to families.
The tremendous support we have received from the local community through the Pearlie Kings and Queens has been excellent since the hospice opened in 2000. This support is instrumental in helping us raise the £1.8 million that is needed each year to keep our vital service available to the children and families that need us.
